"The failure to build housing for earthquake survivors is a continuing tragedy; the time to start fixing it is now..."
The New York Times, March 28, 2010
Months after the devastating earthquake of January 12th, 2010, most Haitians remain homeless

BOX HOUSE is a practical, affordable housing solution for humans in crisis:
- A unique approach for transforming abandoned shipping containers into family dwellings
- Environmentally friendly - BOX HOUSE recycles containers that no longer meet the standards for trans-oceanic travel
- Sturdy shelters built from durable steel containers can withstand extreme weather conditions and attempts by predators to prey on women and girls
- Local talent, trained by BOX HOUSE and its partners, will provide jobs and create small businesses
- Cost efficient conversion is achieved through simplicity of design and effective building methods
- Innovative finance options, although probably not available in Haiti, will be used in many parts of the rest of the Third World
